M23 Rebels to address a Press Conference from Bunagana Town in Eastern Congo tomorrow. This comes after the UN slapped new sanctions on the rebel group. A move that some regional observers have criticised as counter productive given that the rebels and the DR Congo government have an ongoing peace talk schedule to resume this month.
The UN accuses the rebels of committing war crimes in Eastern Congo including recruitment of child Soldiers. M23 rebels recently captured Goma City and withdrew to give peace talks a chance. They accuse Kabila’s Governemnt of not refusing the implement principles of and earlier agreement they had signed.
M23 rebels have always been warning Kabila’s against provocative military build up in Goma while peace talks are ongoing.
